Can I lay gravel on top of dying grass with a weed barrier in between or do I have to dig it all up?

Question:

Answers:
If you want to be sure the grass does not grow through, dig it up, use weed killer and then a barrier. I tried not digging up dying grass and it still grows in places and comes through the barrier I put in.

Absolutely you can.
You can but make sure your weed barrier is like Myplex that will not allow anything to grow through..some of them are porous and will allow grass and weeds to grow through.
from experience pull it up
Treat it with a general herbicide rirsst and you should be fine with your plan.
Yes, you can just put a weed barrier down and then lay your gravel. But, you may end up after a few years, having grass grow thru the barrier. This happened to me, so I know it can happen.
