What is the vent switch for on an air conditioner?

Question:The switch on my a/c says Vent - Exhaust or Closed, which should be used?

Answers:
This refers to typically a small opening that allows outside air into your home. Most people leave these closed during the hottest part of the day, and open in the evenings and overnight.

(On you car you have about the same thing... "Max Cool" usually closes the vent. "Normal Cool" allows some outside air in.)

It allows fresh air to circulate into the stream of conditioned air
the vent should be closed ,at all times unless you want to mix a little outside air with the inside air, than you could put it on exhaust.
