I have a bit for my Dremil for just that job. Cleans it out like using a hot knife on butter. But, you have to be very carefull as it does cut fast and you have to make sure you don't scar up the tiles.
They sell little files to take care of that over-site. It is not pleasant, but, it does work.
They make a tool to scrape between the tile. If its hard you can lightly chisel it. Look in the tile section of your local hardware store for a tool.
Home depot sells a grout getter the type with the saw tipe blade works best the triangle ones tend to chip the tiles easier.
