How to cut a hole in a glass Grey Goose bottle?
Question:Interested in turning my old Grey Goose bottles into a lamp, (maybe a bong). I have a great old rotary tool and wondering if a carbide bit would work instead of a diamond bit? I went to home depot and lowes and they DONT CARRY DIAMOND BITS! Also, how fast or slow should i go? How much pressure? Use water lubricant ok?
Answers:
I'm just guessing here, but i think a fairly low speed using water as lubricant should work ok. pressure is a difficult one - too much and you'll break the bottle, not enough and you wont get anywhere. good luck.
lots of info here if you want to read it:

Diamond drill bits are the best, go to www.drillglass.com, they have free shipping on their bits and carry most sizes.
Do you mean a rotary tool, like a dremel?-which do provide diamond-type cutting accessories, available at Lowe's , or do you mean some sort of tool specifically designed to cut glass? Which is probably what you need. Most places that sell stained glass supplies and equipment (like glasscrafters.com) carry a tool for cutting circles in glass, which is never an easy task. You might want to consider taking it to a professional-then again, you could probably have a lot of fun emptying bottles if it took you awhile to prove that to yourself...
Good luck. :)
You need a DIAMOND bit and a local glass fabricating company that can drill the hole for you. It takes more than the diamond tipped drill, a little oil and some expertise.
Don't try it at home.
dude i tried once, dont think it will work just take to a pro.
