I want to change the shower head in my bathroom. Do they have universal threads on the connectors?
Question:I'm wanting to put in one that can be either hand-held or put into a bracket and used like a regular shower head. Anyone have tips or suggestions?
Answers:
Yes the threads on your shower should fit. All you need to do is use a wrench to remove the old shower head. You will want some Teflon pluming tape to put on the threads. The rest is just follow the instructions from the unit you buy.
Absolutely, this is a product of ISO 9000, or in laymens terms the spicket is standardized to accept most if not all shower heads. It is important to note that the threads on the spicket end needs either a couple wraps of teflon tape, or if you desire there is a brush on pipe thread sealant that needs to be applied before screwing on the new head.
Yes, for the most part, shower threads are universal. Buy a small roll of teflon tape to wrap the threads with before you put the new one on, that will insure a good seal.
This is an extremal easy project! Just unthread the existing shower head from the tube that sticks out of the wall.
Clean up the threads on the tube, wrap them with Teflon tape (get that in the plumbing section at the hardware store) then screw the new shower head on. Take a look at the picture of the shower massage at http://www.waterpik.com/products/specdis...
Genearally speaking, yes. If you buy a head from a store, just make sure you have the right measurement for the pipe. I change my shower head about once every 7 months, and i have never had a problem with threads!
universal threads , but use teflon tape to avoid drips.. DO NOT OVER TIghten you can ruin both sides if you do this.
the threads should be the same. Use a teflon tape on the threads prior to installing the new head and just so you know it is a good idea to install a device before the hand held head that acts as a vacuum break in the event the head was in a tub full of water
to the best of my knowledge they all have the same threads. recently i changed my shower head for the same reason as you and at LOWES i found a shower head with a handheld shower head. its two different heads but one of them can be handheld. you can use just the mounted head or just the handheld or both at the same time. Its awesome, and the water pressure is great in both of them even when on at the same time. i think its a pfister brand but I'm not positive. it also installs the same as other shower heads, very easy.
Yes, but use teflon tape (which comes with most heads).
Tighten hand tight then 1/4 turn with a wrench. If it leaks, another 1/4. Be careful not to strip but you don't want to drip.
yes. also get teflon tape. and use a rag under the wrench so that you don't scratch the chrome on your showerhead and pipes !!!!!!!
