How much does a piece of 2x4 lumber cost?
Question:probably at lowes, but in total im gonna need
18 pieces that are 6 ft
6 that are 4 ft and
and 6 that are 1 ft
would it be cheaper just to buy some of the 20ft ones and saw them or buy them all 6 ft and cut the ones i need shorter?
but anyway how much is just one piece?
Answers:
Depending if its treated or not ?
untreated is cheaper about $2.40 for a- 2x4x6
treated wood cost more about $3.50 for a -2x4x6
You will spend from $50 to 60
Buy them all at six feet.
After you cut the four foot pieces, you'll have two-foot pieces that you can cut into one-footers.
And the cost depends on the kind of wood you're getting.
Spruce lumber would probably be cheapest. Call a lumber yard and get prices for different lengths of lumber then divide price by length to get price per foot, then purchase the length that gives you the best price per foot. Don't make table from 2 x 4's, they will warp when the lumber dries out.
Lowes does`nt have anything 20ft. And for the most part nothing under 8ft. Get eleven 12footers and one 8 footer. You will end up with a 2ft drop from the eight.
Would suggest pressure treated for a picnic table. Just be sure it dries a while before finishing.
Not sure of an exact price, but the 12`s are probably around $10 and the 8`s less than $3.
iT WILL COST ABOUT $2.50 FOR UNTREATED LUMBER, THE KINE THAT GOES INTO INTERIOR WALLS AND WILL COST ABOUT $3.50 FOR TREATED LUMBER (CALLED: pt ) this is the kind that will be exterior or touch the ground or be close to the ground or exterior in any way! You dont want to use untreated lumber in any wall that are near the groung due to termites! My hubby, who KNOWS BETTER, put reg. 2 x 4s in the bathroom wall that was near the exterior of the house and even tho it was on the concrete floor, the termites found it! And w/i 2yrs he had to rip out the whole wall and replace the 2 x 4s with 2 x 4 PT , plus the drywall, plastering, door trim and door! Because he didnt want to spend 30 minutes to go to the lumberyard to get PT (he had reg. 2 x 4s on hand, so he "used them up"! Then he spent 10 hours re-constructing the whole wall !!!!! Not to mention the added expense !!!!!! Aunt Barbie
I'm looking at the Menards sale flyer right now and they have pine 2X4X8 on sale for $1.99 each and 2X4X12 for $2.88 each. You would need 4 -8 footers (6@ 4' & 6@1') and 9 12 footers (18@ 6'). Thats about 35 bucks without hardware & finishing materials.
take tonalcs answer. thr longer they are, the more they cost.
