I am in the UK. How do I go about changing a toilet seat?

Question:

Answers:
If your toilets are the same as ours in the US, all you do is get down on your knees, reach under the back of seat (at the base of the seat) where it connects to the toilet and there should be two bolts that pass through the lip of the toilet and have a plastic, nylon or possibly medal "nut" that is threaded on each of the two bolts. Get a pair of pliers and unscrew both of the nuts and lift up on the seat and it will come right off the toilet. Do this in reverse to put a new one on and you are all set. Be sure to tighten the nuts as tight as you can get them or the seat will "flop" left and right when you sit on it.

The above answer is correct. The older seats had the bolts secured into the seat so you had to install the nuts from under the back of the bowl. Newer ones I have seen have plastic bolts that slip through the seat and you reach under to install the nuts but the bolts have screwdriver slots which allow you to tighten them up from the top once the nuts make contact with the bowl.
