What is a good underground electrical conduit to install?
Question:I'm getting paver stones installed and would like to install electrical conduit so that when i hire an electrician to hook up lights, and outlets, it would make their job easier. What is a good/easy/inexpensive non-metallic conduit to use?
Answers:
If you really don't want to use metal conduit, then I could use schedule 80 pvc or cpvc pipe. This is thick walled pipe, and it's pretty rugged. The only problem you will likely run into is the electrician. Depending upon your local building codes, he may tell you that he can't or won't pull wire through conduit that you installed.
There are two reasons. One...he might lose his license if the conduit is not up to local code. And two, he makes more money if he installs the conduit himself.
I recommend you ask an electrician before you install the patio. Or you can plan on running the wire yourself.
Electrical PVC. But if you're going to have lights along an underground electrical run - like landscape lighting, for instance - you'll need to plan for that with your PVC fittings so that there will be a riser to pull wire up through. Make sure you get large enough pipe that they can easily pull the wire. You'll need to have an idea what wire size they'll be using .
Bury PVC conduit to fish type UF wiring under the pavers. Type UF is for direct burial and has no paper fillers like are found in typical house wiring.
Pretty much answered your own question..
PVC condiut is just right for that use.
It is a home center item & has fittings & utility boxes intended for that application.
Really want to make things easier for the electrician.
Install pull tapes in the conduit when you lay it in.
Also, ask electrician to map out the circuits so you can get the proper sized conduit .
Best regards.
