Does anyone elses loo seat slip?
Question:All the toilet seats in my house slip. I take them off tighten the fixings and a couple of days later they start slipping again. Anyone else get this? why don't they improve those stupid plastic screws.
Answers:
Use a rubber washer under the nuts. Place it against the bowl and then a metal washer to hold it. Then tighten the nut.
I have the same problem but my kids are constantly climbing up on the toilet to reach the sink or their toys that are put up on the shelf. I think that is what keeps breaking mine. We have gone through about 4 seats in the last year.
yeah, my dad ended up replacing them all, but try replacing one. if it still happens there is probablly something wrong with the toilet, especially if its an older house and preevious owners couldve messed them up when changing them and failed to mention it.
good luck!
why dont you jam the hole with some plastic to stop the seat from moving
Believe it or not there is a way to tighten things in the proper direction. Have you ever had a knob on a closet door loosen again after tightening? This is because the tightening is done at the knob and not from behind. I'll bet your tightening the screws at the top while holding the bottom nut in place? Try it the other way around. Use the screwdriver to hold the screw and turn the bottom nut or butterfly and tighten, keeping the scew head in one place. It's worth a try. My husband told me that trick and we haven't had a screw or nut loosen off again. If that doesn't work you need to replace the screws and nuts, they could be worn. Make sure you also use washers.
