Can you sand glass to make opaque?
Question:
Answers:
If you have an air compressor you can buy a cabinet sandblaster for $200 to $400 that will allow you to frost glass. You can use stencils to make patterns in the glass.
No, you need a kit to "etch" the glass -- available at craft stores
you can but it depends on the kind of glass your talking about
I wouldnt think so, I think it would get all scratched looking. You could go to a home improvement store and ask for a kit to make your glass opaque. GL!
Or you could probably get some vinyl which will give it an opaque look without using any chemicals etc.
Try emery cloth. But I think you won't like the outcome. I like the sandblasting idea - think 'sea glass'.
Sand blaster does work the best. If the glass is tempered - in a door or close to one, it may break. Standard annealed glass should work just great.
Yes you can, but if you use anything that cuts at the glass that will produce a dust, you need to have a respirator you can wear to breath. Glass dust will shear your lungs like razors. VERY DANGEROUS.
You can get a vinyl cover for the glass at any major hardware store. They are not expensive at all and some even have designs like stained glass and the like.
