My husband wants to re-do our bathrooms. Will chipping up the tile create a ton of dust throughout the house?
Question:I have heard that every surface in the whole house gets covered in dust. Is this true even if you don't use power tools to chip up the tile? What can we do to minimize the amount of dust?
Answers:
yes , tape up the door with plastic and vacuum with a shop vac before leaving and the coverall suit is a good idea home depot sells a zipper you put down the middle of the plastic to allow entry and exit without having to retape everytime Also buy a masking mashine with a cutting blade fo plastic which you can buy in a roll to put on masking machine youll love that baby good luck from Texas
yes
i believe if you use a chisel and hammer, it wont make as much dust as a power tool b/c the power tool blows the dust around!! using a chisel will make only a lil dust!!
Power tools or no power tools your whole house will become a dustbowl. Plenty of ventilation, windows, doors open and box fans running constantly.
Yes, there will be some dust created, but don't let that stop you... Hang a plastic sheet over the door - that will help keep it from spreading. Your husband can buy a coverall suit and shoe covers to keep the dust to a minimum also. Being aware of this potential problem will help you eliminate the problem by taking steps to prevent spread of the dust. I am sure you are going to be very pleased in the long run because you will have beautiful new bathrooms.
Good luck!
This is almost inevitable in any construction process. Hang plastic over any doorways in to the bathroom and open the window if you have one that's one good way of reducing the dust in the other parts of your home. Good Luck and be safe. :)
Tape a plastic sheet over the door, leave a vac running in the room as close as poss to work area, keep a water spray bottle handy and spray as you chisel (watch for wetting the vac), its a bit more messy, but only in that room, and water residue soon dries out!
