I am looking for a jig to help you install doorknobs and deadbolts on metal and wodden doors.?
Question:I am trying to instal a deadbolt or doorknob.
Answers:
home depot and lowes both carry a jig.. i think it is made by ryobi..cost somewhere around 30$ i think.. it comes with the hole saws, so all you need is a drill. you should be able to find it in the door section
Lowe's, Home Depot, Rockler, Wood Crafters, Lee Valley
They sell them at Sears for about $35. You can probably get them at any hardware store.
Many of the hardware store over here will loan you one if you buy your lock there.
If not they may hire you one, or you could try the hire service. There isn't much sense in shelling out for a tool you will only once.
Home Depot or Lowes. They are not cheap though. If you are just looking to do one door, you may be better off hiring a contractor. P.S. You will also need a router.
If used on metal doors, the jigs purchased from lowes or HD will probably melt.
If you`re doing several, woodcrafters would be a good bet.
If only one or two maybe have it done by a handy man.
(you don`t need a router although they`re handy)
