How can I get tile glue off my floor?

Question:I, recently, removed tiles from my dining room floor, but it left all the tough glue that is stuck on there. Is there any easier way to get this up besides banging on it with a hammer and trying to scrape it off with a razor?

Answers:
if its thin set tou can rent a buffer and get some 16 or 20 grit sand paper for the buffer and it will sand off very easy...i've done it so i know this for sure. but if its glue you would need to rent a floor sander and same grit of sand paper and it will do the job but it uses a lot of paper. simplist way i know of.

a little gasoline then wash with soap
rubbing alchol
If it's glue or adhesive, you can heat it up with a heat gun or blowdryer and this will soften the glue and make it easier to scrape off.Just heat it and get a scraper or putty knife and ease it off the floor as you go. More time consuming but alot easier than trying to scrape or chisel off . Also, Paint thinner or mineral spirits and some rags will work to get the stickiness off once your done scraping off the big globs of glue or adhesive.
manufacturers recommend using mineral spirits to remove tile adhesive. I am hoping you are talking about vinyl tile adhesive. if it was ceramic tile you removed then that is put down with thinset and the oonly way to remove it is a hammer and chisle.
acetone,paint thinner,lots of elbow greese!!
