What, if any, is the diference between linear feet and running feet?

Question:

Answers:
Linear feet is the straight line between two points. Running feet is the actual distance including the rise/fall, bumps etc.
Or, say an electric cable was to be run from point A to point B. A is on a wall, B is on the opposite wall. The linear feet would be the measurable distance (Down wall one, under the floor and up wall 2). Say this came to 30 feet. The running distance, taking account of the fact that a cable can't bend 90 degrees, the slack you need in the cable in order to draw it through, the loop you put in to allow for a future movement of the socket etc.could be 32 feet.
So, when scaling a job, allow for such matters and if they exist, add about 10% of your measured lengths to allow for the run-outs. Then, at 11pm, when your just finishing the job.you don't run out of stuff when shops are all shut! Grrrr.

There really is no difference.
