What do you do with raw edges in clothing?
Question:If you don't have a serger - only a sewing machine.
Answers:
Turn up just a bit and sew OR just sew along the edge preferably with a zigzag stitch. If you don't have a zigzag stitch, sew around the edge twice.
iron 1/8th inch and then turn it and iron another 1/8 inch and then slip stitch it so that it doesn't unravel
In 4-H we learned to sew the seam like you normally would and then turn it up again and sew it. I believe this was called a French stitch but I’m not sure. Anyway it works great.
I always zig zagged the edges, either open or folded. Or you can do a french seam.
