if u need more info than this, wow, watch out.
there are only two brushes in the motor, wire it one way it run foward, the other way it runs backwards.
some motors have 2 or more "hot" legs, for different speeds.
Careful you don't put an eye out with that thing!
that's a big motor for a project. if your shirt sleeve gets caught in the rotating parts, you could get seriously injured. and it sounds like you know nothing about electricity. you could cause a fire or get electrocuted and die. find an electrician to help you do it safely or find something else for your project.
what do you know about the wires on the switch for this motor? have you already disconnected it from the washing machine? if you don't know which terminals were which, you have got problems already. what is the project? a wire wheel? a bench grinder? how are you planning to secure the motor to whatever you are building? old fashioned wringer washer motors had a mounting base built onto them, modern washing machine motors are usually mounted to some type of carriage or hanger. if you could supply more info about the project, you might get a better answer. good luck, be careful.
