Has anyone heard that putting aluminum foil on windows could cause a fire?

Question:I don't have air conditioning and have once again resorted to alum foil on the windows even though it does not look great. But I live in the country so not a lot of people see it and it seems to keep the house cooler so the least of my concern is what it looks like. However a friend indicated that it could cause a fire - I'm not sure how but wondering if anyone else has also heard this & if there is a web site with more details

Answers:
Worry not; Your friend is mistaken. Line those windows with that ugly foil. Better yet, go to wal-mart and spent $2.00 on a mylar emergency blanket. Cut it up, and line your windows with it.

I don't see how either. It's not flammable nor is glass.
Perhaps she's confusing it with the advice not to line your stove with aluminum foil because of the fire danger; however, that relates to trapped grease igniting.
I kept aluminum foil on the widows for years when I worked 3rd shift and wanted my room dark for day time sleeping. I see no way that it would cause a fire.
I never heard such a thing before nor have I seen any damage caused by foil sounds safe to me
