Is there a tool that I can use to cut sheetrock and make the edges straight & smooth?

Question:I tried using a razor knife, but all that di was take big chunks out of it... Any ideas?

Answers:
You score the paper one one side with the knife and then break the sheet, then cut the paper on the other side. Follow with a drywall rasp for a smooth edge.

Try a sawzall/saw
Use a metal straight edge, lay it along the line you need to cut, use a new razor knife and score it, then using your hand push on it and it should break cleanly.
Like they said, you score, snap and separate. Then you can smooth it further if needed.
Use a new knife, it will cut it.
Use a strait-edge and a sharp knife. Yer edges will get covered with tape, cornerbead and mud, anyway. You never know the difference. That's the hardest thing to teach a new carpenter about drywall. Just cut it fit it and screw it. The finishing will take care of the rest!!
Razor knife with new razor.Use a square to get a straight line and /or use it for guild. You are trying cut to deep 1st cut.Just cut a groove and go back over till you can bend and break..It will be covered anyway or should..
Go to the sheeeeethouse theres somthing in there.
Scoring and breaking with a box cutter type knife will work. Doing this with a straight edge is the best way to get a straight line. If you are need to cut holes in it, you will want to use a drywall knife. It is about 5 bucks at a Home store and looks like a steak knife with a saw blade.
Use a good quality tradesman's craft knife - a stanley knife or similar. Change the blades regularly to make sure you have a good sharp edge.
7 inch diamond cutter blade in angle grinder.a strip of gaffer tape on sheet where you cut.
ALL pro drywallers carry a sureform plane, which is basically a rasp shaped like a hand plane, this will not only smooth the edges it will help you shave off a little if needed if the cut's too big
Yes, your utility knife needs a new blade, or flip it over.
