What is a good liquid to un-clog a sink?
Question:I don't have much to use so just something from around the house I've heard that vinegar works well but I'm not sure does anyone know??
Answers:
I see you have a lot of answers, though I won't read them. My first suggestion would be "remove the P Trap" determine the cause of the clog, then proceed.
I also do not ever advise chemicals as the first solution. We have too many of those solutions in our environment as is.
Bring in a garden hose if the P trap is clear, and run it into the drain, beyond/below where the P trap was, and check the drain flow from there.
Finally, and with all due respect, DO NOT pour greases down a sink drain, and use the strainer type things, sold in so many places.

put a bar of soap down the sink and turn the hot water on until it melts!
The Best thing to use is Baking Soda and Vinegar and it will bubble and it usually unclongs what ever is in there
i know dran-o works really good. it's not that expensive either.
well bleach or vinegar . but vinager is such a weak acid . try something stronger. but i would suggest buying some drain-o.
The only sure way to unclog a drainpipe is to physically remove it using a plumber's snake. Furthermore, if your plumbing system is relatively new and constructed with PVC pipe, you could damage the drainage pipes with products like Liquid Plumbr.
hot water, or vinegar and baking soda. then run the hot water and use a plunger.
BLEACH. Make sure there is minimum water in the sink, pour a bottle of bleach, wait about 10 minutes, then flush with HOT water.
First, dip out the water as much as you can, pour an entire box of baking soda in the drain, then immediately pour a quart of vinegar in. If that clears it, follow it with a couple cups of undiluted beach.
Cat urine Really it works. My cat never left me alone so at night I locked her in the rest room. in the morning the shower that used to be clogged all the time. Was now draining like a champ. Cat urine also cures H.I.V. really my neighbor used to have H.I.V. Till he started to drink cat urine
I recently had a plumber come and snake out the drain, imagine my surprise when it started running slow within a couple of weeks.
So I came to answers and read, I poured one gallon of White vinegar down the drain and waited. No change, still drained slow.
So I did dishes, still ran slow.
When the dish water was draining out (I have a two sided sink) it kind of stood.
I went about my business, and a few minutes later I heard a noise--the water was all gone.
I then filled both sides up and let them out at the same time, it really took it down.
I went in the basement to check the pipes, I could not believe that something as simple as one gallon of vinegar could do the trick but the pipes were in one piece and they have ran like a trooper ever since.
So my suggestion is to pour a gallon of white distilled Vinegar down the drain and wait, I let mine sit overnight.
without making a special trip to the store you can easily use bleach or vinager to unclog your drain.
If you want something from around the house use bleach. Bleach will eat through almost anything. Remove all the water you can and pore in the bleach.30 minutes and rinse it.
Vinagar with baking soda, this will unplug simple blocks and is usually found around the house. It will also leave your drain smelling nice.
I assume that it is a kitchen sink - boil big pots of water & dump down the drain - pour about 10 of them.
Any time you do this it melts the grease & lets it move further down the line - eventually you will need a plumber to clean the line right.
use drano
The vinegar is a good thing to use...also use baking soda with that. you could also pour a 2-liter of cola down the drain.
here is a site that will hopefully help you
