Who do I get to install my electric shower - plumber or electrician?
Question:Pipework and electrics there from old, broken shower.
Answers:
Dependant on the type of shower you get, whether it tees in from the bottom of the shower or elsewhere, extra pipework may be required, don,t forget a 15mm isolation valve otherwise known as a ballofix valve,if anything goes wrong with the shower you are able to isolate it. A fully qualified plumber is required for this.
All electrical installations must be carried out by a fully qualified electrician.
Showers should be wired up to their own fuse rating on the board or rcd, old wiring needs to be checked as to whether it conforms to regulations and finally an installation certificate NIEEC from the electrician for work carried out.
All the best.
You need both or one man qualified in both. The main thing is the qualifications.
Plumber
A plumber, electrician plus a plasterer for the mess the other
two make of your wall. then it will maybe need decorating.
Plumber, but ask to make sure he's got the ability and experience to fully install the shower.
Both, buddy, tho' you should be able to find someone qualifed for both. The electrics is the most important, that MUST be done by a qualified electrician.
me pity you didn't live local either as they can change like for like without breaking the rules
Both they are two skilled jobs .
Call a plumber and he will subcontract to an electrician for that end of the work. Or call an electrician and he will subcontract to a plumber.
Both would be ideal, some companies have both but will only send one man who can do the job but isn't qualified in both areas, start with a plumber, cos an electrician is only a would be plumber but with his brains hacked out..lol.
the proper people who are trained usually plumbers have all the correct certificates check first asking all the rel event questions how long will the job take how much will it cost for the total job not putting any money up front until the job is complete, ask around and get different quotes good hunting and luck.
I would suggest you get a plumber if you want the pipework to look nice. and professional. Sparkies wouldn't know which is the hot pipe and which is the cold, and use all those lumpy compression fittings.
Both.
You need an electrician
