What is the cheapest building material?
Question:I am going to build a large haunted house to run in the fall. I need a very basic structure that will enclose about 4000 square feet. No insulation, no wiring, no plumbing. Basically a big barn or warehouse type structure. Would corrugated tin, concrete blocks, or wood be the cheapest way to go?
Answers:
probably a pole building with tin siding. anf metal roof
tin, but make sure your town will approve it.
Hmmmmm. If you live near a town, why not attempt to rent a vacant building for 1 month or two. That would give you time to modify it and remove your stuff after the haunting. People do this in my town every year. They draw very large crowds. They take people in in small groups. Its a real blast.
Jon walker has a point. Any structure this size will be costly. Most areas have vacant buildings that can be rented or leased for the fall season.
The cheapest way to build, hands down, is 'plywood rigid framing'. Check the American Plywood Association's website and look for their booklet , "plywood rigid framing". It's the APA's equivalent of a plywood Quonset. Not very sexy but, easy to build, fast and very inexpensive.
Have fun.
cheapest.. rolled plastic around a frame
Sod or dried mud is dirt cheap.
