Window vs. Window Fan vs. Fan?

Question:Which is better?
Would an open window, or windows, and a fan be the same thing as using a window fan? or would it be better/worse?

Answers:
Window Fan--you can reverse the breeze. If it is hot out then put the fan to blow outside and vice versa.

There isn't much difference between placing a fan in front of a window or using a window fan, as long as the window opening with the stand-alone fan is of a good dimension to maximize flow without letting the air flow back in through the window. Whatever you use, consider that any kind of fan might be a bit noisy if it's in a room where you intend on sleeping.

A fan in a window is also more efficient if you use the fan to exhaust the warm air in the house and allow the cool air to come in through a different window (as opposed to setting a fan in a window and having it blow in).

What I do is place a fan in the window of a room I am not occupying when I sleep, open the window to the bathroom off my bedroom, and close all the other windows in the house. This creates a vacuum on the house that results in the flow of cool outside air into the bedroom. The warm air is then exhausted out of the window in the other room.

By opening various windows in the house different amounts, you can basically adjust the flow of air throughout the house with the single exhaust point. This allows you to customize the amount of night-time cooling each area of the house gets. For more air flow, you can place a second fan in another window for a second exhaust point.
Close the window, and run your fan. A good fan can move the air around in the room you want, and keep you cool..To put a fan in the window to exhaust the hot air will only pull hot air from the leaks around your other windows and doors into your house. The air flow around a room will bring the temp. down if all door and windows are closed. If that isn't the answer, the only answer is to install air conditioning. I don't know where you live, but where I live air conditioning is a waste of money because we don't have hot weather that often to justify the cost. With air conditioning you can have a hard time adjusting the temp.with all the costs involved. Try to keep cool in whatever you select to do.
A fan circulates the air. Think of a ceiling fan; it either draws cool air up or warm air down. If its cool out side have the fan blow the cool air in or the warm air out. An attic fan tends to pull cool air from the basement up through the house and they work pretty good. Open windows on the cool side and hot side of the house also seems to work pretty well to create air flow.
Yes, a window fan is boxed shape and fits into the lower portion of an open window. If you have another window open in another room, the air will be drawn through that area window.
A window fan shall be better for it shall act as an exhaust fan *** fresh air suction fan to the room having another open window.
The only difference is that with a window fan you're bringing in the air directly from outside through your window, which means you're also bringing in dust.
