Wooden spindel staircase?

Question:i would like to know the legal requirment in a length between spindels is a staircase.

Answers:
in england the legal width between spindles is 100 mm max this translates to 4 inches approx 2 per step

The general rule is 8" or less between spindles to keep children from getting hurt. Many areas require this width, or smaller.
International building code calls for four inches.
Check you local building codes, it can be different for all areas.
The building code requires that a 4" ball will not fit through the widest gap between balusters.
If you can fit a softball, (not a cabbage ball), then a baby can fit it's head.
