How to follow the direction of the wood grain?
Question:I need to know how to follow the direction of wood grain. I need simple easy to understand ways of following the wood grain.

does it run long way or across? look at the lines and follow them.
If your are polishing or sanding wood you need to work along the same direction the lines in the wood grain go.
look at the wood/board, the growth rings should run the length of the board, that is the way that you should sand or stain the board. never go up and down the shortest width of the board.
