Answers:

I wouldn't want my horses standing all night on concrete. Wood is the only way to go. Like 2 by 12's Do not paint or treat in any way. A barn is a barn, you still have to muck.
The main walk in of our barn should be fine dirt. Inside the stalls should be wood. It is easier on the houses. You should also have a concrete drainage system at the entrance of each stall. You do have to muck them but you will also have to wash them out as well. You should also have one stall that is all concrete where you can wash your horses and groom them this will allow the water to run out of the barn instead of becoming stagnic. This is how most equstrian farms build their barns.
well what about that new track turf that calif is installing on there tracks. it is suppose to help the horses from any injuries. its suposely a rubber material that should last a long time.
Why do you want flooring? What's wrong with good ole' dirt? Just keep changing out the shavings. We have 4 horses and I wouldn't want any kind of flooring to deal with. If you must, go with wood or something resilient. Concrete or Asphalt are going to be hard on the horses legs over time. They also have these thick rubber mats that are much easier on the horses.

Even for walkways, why spend the money. Just get some caliche (spelling?), it's a shell, sand and clay mixture and it sets up pretty firm. Easy to maintain.

Well good luck with your barn. Just give it some good thought. I think if you use a hard surface, down the road you will see leg problems w/ your horses. My wife would never consider concrete or asphalt.
dirt
I would suggest decomposed granite in the areas where your slab is not.
My cousin has quite a large horse barn/riding arena facility. The floors of the barn are a rough finished concrete; the floor moderately sloped to a small channel running down the center of the walk way. The walkway is large enough to operate a "Gator" motorized vehicle and manure spreader. Stalls are mucked directly into the spreader.
