Fake out a motion detector - how?
Question:I have a motion detector hooked up to a relay to send big current via a relay to a pump. Problem: the detector only works at night because it is designed to trigger lights. I want it to work ALL the time. I've tried a hood, then tape over the lens, to simulate darkness, but these methods don't seem to fool the detector, or, if they do, they also block the infra-red sensing of motion. So -what can I do to fool the detector into "thinking" it is dark -when it is not dark?
Answers:
Radio shack sells a $ 20 or so detector that works day or night. Works on body heat. Its part of their burglar alarms. I have used one for about a year. The detector works on batteries. The receiver is plugged in. The receiver has several different ways to out put.
Maybe you could try to put some cheap tint over it like the kind you can put on do it yourself prescription sunglasses. Just a thought.
there should be a diel on it that you can ajust it so it will stay on not just in the dark so ajust that nob and it should do the trick also if you are trying to use a moshion light like the ones that are on grauges for light it wont ever work right ther desiend to work only at night but if you have the right kind it sounds like you need to ajust it
