Bath panels?
Question:Are all bath panels a standard length? (1700mm) and are they easy to cut and fit? Any ideas where to get them?

They caome in different sizes, usually the standard bath sizes.
If you were cutting them I guess a jigsaw would be best

Any good builders merchants or plumbing merchants, They are all sorts of sizes, 1400, 1500, 1700, 1800 and you need to get one that can be adjusted in height or if plastic can be trimmed.
Visit travis perkins, plumb centre, jewsons etc for more info, or of course B&Q etc

I think most are a similar size.I got a really nice one last year. It is oak colour and has a nice sculpted design. Had to be wood,I couldn't possibly have got a plastic one.'I got it from the B&Q wharehouse at Thurrock, but I would imagine all the bigger B & Q 's would have them. Cost about £35. I didn't need to cut mine. It was about an inch and a half short of the wall to wall measurement so I just added a small strip of wood at that end,which is behind the door anyrate.

plastic panels will req the bath to b fitted at the correct height,and only req timber batten across floor
painted hard board panels req frame and are easy to fit
When I had to change the bath panels in my daughters flat, she just wanted a plain, colour co-ordinated panel which was going to cost a fortune at the local DIY store.
Solution: 1/4 inch thick MDF and a jigsaw.
Measure the longest side of the bath panel you have taken off, you are going to need that length of MDF, the shop might cut it for you but dont get it cut too close to the measurements you need as sometimes its a fiddle to get in.
Lay the MDF on the floor, place the old panel on top and mark around it using it as a template.
Carefully cut to size using the jigsaw. Round off all the sharp edges and corners using sandpaper.
Paint the panel with at least 2 coats of waterproof paint and undercoat if required, make sure the edges get done properly as ingress of water ruins the MDF on contact.
mark out the screw holes using the old panel again as a template.
Drill holes and fit the new panel, the panel might need to be fitted under the lip of the bath so make sure it goes in right.
Took me about an hour to do, not including drying time for the paint.
Most panels are for a standard size bath ie 1700mm if yua have a wooden panel you can cut it ok with a jig saw from the front of the panel using a reverse cuttting blade or from the back of the panel with a standard blade, on the other hand a plastic panel will need to be cut with a fine toothed saw and it is best if use masking tape along the cutting line.
B&Q or Focus should have them or be able to get you one if not try Jewson or Travis Perkins builders merchants.

Yes they do come in standard lengths ,but you might just need to do a little cutting here and there ,to make it fit .
