We've had our air conditioners running and now it is very dry in here...?

Question:to the point where we are getting dry eyes. What can we do to make it not so dry in here? Hopefully something other than opening the window, seeing as it is very hot and stale out with no breeze. Thanks!

Answers:
Your air conditioner is activated by the setting on the thermostat. The lower the setting, the more the air conditioner unit runs. The more the a/c unit runs, the more the unit dehumidifies the air inside the house. So, you must do one of two things: 1) add humidity to your inside space with a humidifier, or 2) turn the thermostat to a higher setting to minimize the a/c dehumidifying effect. Of course there is an additional solution, put eye-drops in your eyes and enjoy the cool temps!

Hang a wet towel somewhere inside the room, better yet very close to the aircon. Aren't you familiar with that on the heater already?
Air conditioners remove humidity since humidity makes it feel warmer than it really is. Try adding back some humidity with a cool mist humidifier.
That's what air conditioners do - pull the moisture out of the room. Maybe try a small humidifier in the main rooms?
AC systems cool the air partly by removing moisture from the air.

The only way to add it back is to either install a humidifier on the system or get a free standing humidifier. Both are available at most home stores.
If your eyes are going that dry, do you have a gas ac unit? or even a gas hot water heater? If the vent pipes on either get stopped up or not venting properly, this could be a carbon monoxide problem instead. Air conditioners extract moisture from the air and exhausts it out the back..while it brings fresh air in..if the answer to the gas question is ..yes..please consider having that checked..the local fire department may do it for free..or lead you in the right direction to...
WELL MY DEAR FRIEND I WILL JUST ADD THIS TO YOU QUESTION . THE [PCBEACHRAT] GIVE YOU THE SAME ANSWER THAT I WOULD HAVE. I WONDER IF YOU HAVE A WINDOW UNIT CAUSE WITH IT MOST OF THEM WILL LET YOU BRING IN SOME OUT SIDE AIR SO IF IT IS CLOSE YOU CAN OPEN IT UP. AND IF YOU IN A VERY TIGHT AIRED HOME YOU MIGHT JUST BE SUCKING EXHAUST FUMES FROM A GAS HOT WATER HEATER OR EVEN POLITE LIGHT FUMES IN THE HOUSE . GET IT CHECKED BEFORE YOU CHECK OUT TO HEAVEN CAUSE THEM FUMES WILL KILL YOU. BEST WISHES. BOB
