Best way to get the glue (mastic) off the wall from behind glued plastic tiles.?

I Hate to tell you this But I have been doing this for 20yrs plus and I have tryed it all. You cant do it correctly without removing the drywall. the problem is with anythnig if you get the drywall wet your screwed ( I hate to say it that way) You could always put a skim coat of mastic on the wall to make it smooth and go from there but its not the correct way.

You will have to scrape it off but it will probably damage the dry wall. Be prepared to replace it or resurface the it.
