Answers:
you will need an archetect, a contractor, building permits from you local building department, ground servey to see if you proprty can withstand the additional weight of an addition ...i would say...CALL IN THE PROFESSIONALS FOR THIS ONE, BIG GUY!
try hgtv.com
clean out the clutter. it's a good start and it's free.
You could put in a search for building an addition and will find a number of sites. I like DIYnetwork.com. I would suggest this though- call the technical college and speak to the carpentry instructor. He will be able to answer all your questions because you have many things to take into consideration such as standards for lumber sizes and distances between joists, minimum ceiling height, whether its a flat roof or must have a certain pitch, etc. He can help you know which permits you need and how to get them.
I take carpentry and we have learned how to build a wall, floor, and door and window frames. This summer our class will be building a house for Habitat.
You can also go to the library and find a book on adding additions to a house.
Hope this helps.
