Paving slabs/flagstones?

Question:i have just layed 50 paving slabs, now comes the arduous task of pointing, does anyone have any good tips or easy methods of pointing? can i infill partially with sand before i apply the mortar? kind regards to all.

Answers:
my dad always used dry mix and then used the hose on it he found it less of a task xx

you have 2 ways , using wet mortar and then clean off and left over makes etc , or dry point, mix a dry mortar mix and using a jointing iron squeeze toe dry mortar into the joints , then with a very light mist setting on a hose wet the paved area , .
not a good idea to half fill joints with sand first , no matter which way you do it , it will be a boring job lol good luck
Use a dry mix just brush into the joints with a broom you can then use a fine spray from a hose ( before we get a hose pipe ban! ) or let our good old English summer do the work for you
the easiest way is throw wash sand on the pavers & broom the sand into the gaps & then mortar gaps
