Wiring a centeral air conditioner?
Question:all of my wires are run from a previous working install. but now they are unhooked from the furnace. the heating works fine and the fan (in house) comes on when the cooling system starts up but the out side unit will not come on. my options to hook the wires from the outside unit to the inside of the furnace are f v h t & c. i hope this is explained well enough.. thanx

I will give it a try. First, I must make an assumption. We are talking about the low voltage (24 vac) thermostat wiring.
F = fan V = voltage H = heat T = transformer C = cooling
I am guessing at the above definitions. Do you live in the States? Do you have a transformer in the furnace and another in the outside unit?
I am making another assumption. You have only the one transformer and it is located in the furnace. The rest is based on a lifetime of wiring these things in the States.
On the thermostat you will find wiring terminals R, Y, W, and G.
R = one side of the transformer
Y = outdoor unit contactor coil
W = furnace gas valve
G = furnace blower relay coil
One side of the transformer will go to one side of each of the three loads.
The other side of the transformer will go to R on the thermostat.
The thermostat will make from R to Y, W, G which are the other side of the three loads.
I hope this will help out. You can email me if you like. I sure wish one could draw with this program.
call the HVAC man lol. I was one now i'm only the KETBS.
