I NEED TO HAUL 8x8 FT. HOT TUB CAN IT BE HAULED ON ITS SIDE?

Question:

Answers:
Yes you can transport it on its side. I delivered hot tubs before. The easiest way it to tip it up on one side. Then lift a corner and slide a furniture dolly under it. The ones with 4 wheels under a 2x4 frame. Roll it up to a truck bed. Lay a piece of cardboard or carpet in the bed and leave some hanging over the edge of the tailgate. Now put the ho tub on the ground behind the truck by about 5 feet. Roll it up and over one corner till it rests on the tailgate. Then lift it up and slide it in. Use some ratchet straps to hold it down. You can get them at a home store or Walmart. Do the reverse to get it out. You should have at least two people to do it.

If it is in a crate it can. Otherwise you are risking it cracking from unexpected forces on its side as the heavy motor and pump bounce around during the trip.
I would use a trailer but if you only have a pick up place a few 2x6's across the bed of the truck and secure the tub down with straps.
I see this done all the time, BUT, I would check with the manufacture of the particular tub before doing so. They might want you to brace the interior some first.
