How much wall 300mm thick can I build out of 10 ton of quarried rock in a randomly layed style?
Question:The rock I want to use is Limestone how do I estimate quantities/
Answers:
Find out the volume of the stone from the supplier.
Then it is a simple mathmatical calculation to find out the length of wall you can build, as you will know the height you want and the thickeness you have already given.
viz:- Length of wall(M) = Volume of stone -divided by -Height of wall (M) X Thickness (M) X 90% (allowing 10% for wastage)
Make sure the unit you use is applied to all measurements e.g. Metres.
There is lots of variables here.. But roughly, you should be able to build a rock wall 1 foot wide 3 feet high and 50 feet long with 10 tons of rock.
