How many 2x4 will i need to build a 7hx17L wall?

Question:

Answers:
16" on center 12 2 x 4 studs, or 7 footers if available, 2 2 x 4 * and 2 2 x 4 10's for the top and bottom

Assuming it's an interior wall and you'll use header beams and footer beams, the math is pretty simple. Figure to install the studs 16 inches on center.

Buy 10 ft. 2x4's for all the lumber and cut to fit the measurements, allowing for center/ horizontal braces between studs with the "waste"

8 studs should do the 17 ft. 4 should do the header and footer with enough to do the bracing.

19 stud length 2x4's if you don't need a double header and assuming 16" on center. Add 2 more if you do.
DIY Doc has the right idea. However, 8' 2x4's should do the trick unless your interior rooms are higher. You can't do too much with 26 1/2" pieces for headers and such. And with the cost of lumber these days it's better to buy low and go back for what you need. Get untreated stuff and you can burn the unused 2" to 5" pieces in the chiminia'. You'll also need a sheet of 1/2" plywood (or someone's scrap) if you are planning to make a header for a door or a case open.
