Is removing the little metal strip that runs through the metal wheel of bic lighters bad?

Well that would be the safety feature for children...how old are you little girl...JUST SPEND THE $.39 TO GET A NEW ONE.
If you have little kids it makes it easier for them to light it if they get a hold of it. We have a 6 and 4 year old and we just taught them not to mess with a lighter and have never had a problem. My hubby got one of those trick lighters that gives you a mild shock(just a little tingle or buzz) and had them touch it like they were going to light it and it made such a big impression on them if you even try and hand them a lighter they put their hands behind their back. But other than for child saftey yeah its alright to take it off.
