Do I need a shower door?
Question:I'm about to install a shower in a 1400 x 900mm enclosure, with the shower mounted on one of the shorter sides. I'd planned to use a stud wall or glass screen to create a 'walk in' effect, as I also intend to sink the shower tray into the floor (there is space for the outflow). However, I guess I'd have to leave at least a 600mm gap to walk in, only leaving 800mm of screen. Would this be enough to stop any significant amount of water splashing out on the bathroom floor (mixer shower on a pressurised system)? Or would I be better off with a more conventional hinged door & screen kit? (sorry about the French measurements but that's what all the stuff seems to come in)

You'll need something to stop the water. The water may not be directed at the opening but the water splashing off you will end up all over the place.
Here is a real good tile forum that'll help you construct your shower: http://www.johnbridge.com/vbulletin/foru...
I find no shower door to be quite cool to take a shower at least until the room heats up and so I always have a door.
You should always have a door
no just a shower you smell
you need a door dude ,when you shower spray will go everywhere
Sounds a bit tight to me leaves only a shade over 30 inches to deflect water, per haps if you use a rain hat shower head instead of conventional you would be standing under rather than bach from the head.
You could use a curtain...
you need a door unless you can curve the glass wall a bit
Definately need a door or i'll spy on you when i'm on the can...
I would try it first with out the door and if there is a lot of water on the floor then consider a shower door. Try having the threshold of the entrance to the shower build up about 100mm to prevent water leaking into the bathroom.
You can always stay out in the rain.
you would be better off with a more conventional screen kit (nice idea though )
fit a door Lotsmore as its very cold without one a door keeps the heat in from the hot water and you realise how much when you walk out to dry for myself i always find it very cool/cold
