What is the best type of gold paint to use to highlight the 'spears' etc on black painted wrought iron gates?
Question:The gates need to be re-painted in black gloss, then the gold trim on the finnials etc have to be re-painted. Any tips on the best way to paint wrought iron gates? Any recommendations as to the best type of gold paint to use? It's going to be a fiddly job - I ain't looking forward to it!!

easy if you take your time hammeright is the best paint to use black and gold bit expensive but lasts longer
hammerite paint is special for iron etc. It will last longer than other paints.
Or you could try gold leaf then varnish afterwards.
