I locked the drawer to an antique cash register, how do i get it open without tearing it apart?

Question:i want to open the drawer without breaking anything.

Answers:
Please Please don't try to open it yourself. Take it to a locksmith where they have tools to open it or tools to pick it. Cost to do so will be minimal. You don't want to chance bending or breaking it. Bye

Look underneath for a hole in whioch you can stick a pointed object into. There should be a release for the drawer in case something like this ever happened.

The Rat
As one other answer suggests, and considering that the appliance may be worth more than anything in it, spend the $60 or so to have a lock smith do the deed.

Obviously the more ANTIQUE it is, perhaps the more modest its mechanisms are, by why quibble over what to do? Sure, check first,,, and in fact for future reference get some detailed info from the manufacturer.

Once I had an Uncle, who had an Antique Silver Slot machine, as well as an ornate antique GOLD looking register. He attempted alterations, and was sorely unhappy after the fact.
If you can find a replacement lock, drill out the old one.
There usually is a hidden release underneath the register. All new models have them so I'm assuming that older ones do also. Just locate it and push or pull it and the drawer should release. Then take it to an antique dealer and see if someone can show you how to ring up items to open it. Also, check on the keys and see if there is one that says, NO SALE. It will usually open it without ringing up a price. Hope this works and good luck.
