How do you cool down a building/house without an air conditioner?
Question:
Answers:
Open the windows at nightto let cool air in, and then close in the morning. Having a fan in the window helps to do this, and my mother used to put a bowl of ice in front of the fan. Pull all shades & curtains closed during the day.
You need to get air flow to make it feel cooler. Since you are not changing the temperature, it will only "seem" cooler. Opening windows and creating a cross-ventilation with fans would help.
more insulation, shade to block sun fans that pull cool breeze through house in real dry areas window warer coolers.
Open your windows, best answer. Theres not any circulation in the building so you need to create it. Turn on all fans that are in the building and keep anything that may create heat off.(light bulbs, stoves, ovens).
I've been threw this many times where i live during hurricane season, and this is definantly what works the most for me.
get a whole house fan installed.
Do all the things that have already been mentioned. Open windows at night, close windows, doors, and curtains during the day. In addition, turn off all lights during the day unless you absolutely have to have them on. The lights generate heat that you don't want on an already hot day. Also, drink lots of ice cold drinks. The more ice, the better. This will make your body temperature drop so that you feel cooler. You can also soak your feet in some cold water and you will feel cooler.
turn off all light, open all windows, close the blinds or block the sunlight some how and turn on a couple of fans.
or get a block of ice and put it behind a fan ( but I think this might be dangerous if you don't know what you are doing so be cautioned.)
Putting awnings over the windows helps block the sun. Installing a ceiling fan is a great way to cool the house by circulating the air. Window fans are great too. Keeping shades drawn during the hottest part of the day also helps to keep things cool.
with a whole house vent fan, depending on the temperature outside also, you could be blowing in hot air,try air conditioning,it works better.
Good insallation to keep hot air from getting in is a must. Then dont open door/windows, as this lets warm air in. Ceiling fans help too.
