How do I go about hiring an illegal immigrant? What is the best way and how much should I pay?

The best way to hire them is to tell them that you will report them if they don't work for you. Say that you will pay them something like $5/hour or $20 for a full day (don't worry about the math being wrong, they don't know math). Then, at the end of the job, don't pay them. Don't worry, just tell them that you will report them if they don't leave peacefully. If you feel bad about doing it this way, don't worry, if they were inside your house, chances are that they stole something.

As long as you are not a registered business, go for it. I'd pay them a little more than that, though. And make sure you feed them. Find one that speaks English.
You gatta think about it! i mean if you pay them 5 bucks do u think they are going to do a good job? nope no one would for 5 bucks! its hard work! i painted my room and wow i was dead! i can imagine paiting a whole house. dont be a meanie pay them well. im sure they have families to feed.

talk to your friends about how much to pay him but give him at least minimum wage because them you will be racist but i would just go up to them and ask the group, in english, if there is a guy that would like a little job to do; if they cant speak english then how will they know what to do?
They hang out in groups so they can do some of the big jobs like painting your house. Just walk up to them and ask them if they need work. Even though they speak spanish they will understand the word work. As for how much to pay them. Five dollars an hour is ok. Most people who are citizens would never do it for 5 dollars an hour but they will because its the only type of work they can get.
Well, what you pay, maybe what you will get. $5 per hour for painting. Sounds like a real expert's salary. Maybe you should ask around your local Hispanic church they may know legal immigrants who will work at a reasonable cost. Because they really need a job. If you don't get fined you'll pay in other ways. Generally you get what you pay for. Why do you think proper painters and decorators have training or go through an aprrenticeship? The cheapest option for you is to employ a painter's assistant - one that is under supervision. Get friendly with your local tradesmen. Or maybe you just fancy drips of paint spilled where they shouldn't be, uneven coverage etc etc.
Personally I would not hire an illegal by no means, but if I need help with some labor work around the house or in that general area, I would use them and pay them a few bucks for their time.
They still have to eat and their illegal status is one thing and survival is another and by which no means I condone hiring an illegal from a legitimate business stand point, but a few hired hands for a day job I see no problem since their pay would only be for a few hours to help me out.
I use what sources I can get and if Americans are not available to help me illegals definitely will.
Hiring illegal immigrants is condoning their presence here. Forget about the almighty dollar you want to save & hire a high school student or a college student who is on break for the summer. You could get into a lot of trouble with the law if someone finds out you've hired illegal immigrants & believe me, someone will find out.
