Can anyone recommend a mortar mix for repointing a Georgian bricked property with alime apperance?

Answers:
Hi I am a self employed builder and when we re point buildings to try to match a buildings pointing in my area it is recommended that we use a mix 9:2:1 for general pointing and 7:2:1 for chimney's and more exposed area's. That's sand:lime:cement. I would suggest you point a small test area and alter the sand content until you get a reasonable match. Lime mortar can dry too quickly in sunny conditions so be careful to ensure area to be pointed is damp but not wet. If you find it hard to brush pointing down after you have left the newly pointed area then use a rag to finish off. I don't know if you know but you can also buy white cement if you cannot get the desired colour. Lime acts as a plasticiser so there is no need to add any further additives, Hope this helps.

if its the colour your worried about you can add a colourizer to mix 4or5 to1.sand and cement mix+ colour.
