Is there a good (and safe) way to block-up a toilet to make it almost overflow?

Question:I'm filming a movie and need a shot where someone flushes the toilet and it almost overflows. I'd just fill it with water, but I think it'll automatically flush once the water gets high enough. Any suggestions?

Answers:
Try a funnel in the toilet thus reducing the size of the drain.
Good luck.

You may have to experiment a few times to get this right but try this, stuff a white sock in the hole so it's out of sight. Then turn off the water supply to the toilet. Use a cup and remove like half of the water in the tank, then flush. You may have to experiment with how much water to remove from the tank in order to get the water level up to the rim but not over...
I would just do it the old fashion way just without the brown stuff. Just take a wad of toilet paper and clup it up on the surface of the toilet boil. Hopefully your toilet isn't TOO powerful and the toilet paper should clog the whole. Then flush a couple times (not too many times so it doesn't really overflow). When you are done just remove the toilet paper by hand and the water should drop by itself.
