My leather furniture is brown & I want to change the color to make it darker is there a safe way to do this?

This will depend entirely on what type of leather you have. If you have an aniline style leather (one that readily absorbs moisture) it is possible to use aniline dyes to make it a richer or darker colour.
If you have a pigmented type of leather then you can use pigments to re coat the leather in a different colour. The results on this type of leathe will depend on how good a condition it is in, whether it has an grease or oils present etc. etc.
Both of these jobs should be done by expert and trained leather technicians as the preparation that needs to be done is critical and if it is not done correctly will lead to many problems.
If you arein the UK LTT have a list of trained technicians who can do this work.
Please do not try any of the DIY products over the internet as they will not work and may cause a lot of unfixable damage.
You can use a wood stain the same way as you would on wood...wipe it on and then wipe it off. After it dries- treat it with a leather protectant. It has the same effect.
If you don't feel comfortable doing that maybe you could just accessorize with dk. brown, beige, etc. that way you keep the neutral tones and don't have to change the color of your furniture.
If it's leather, I've never heard of anybody changing the color. Looks like any color added to what you already have would rub off onto your clothes. Most people have to live with what they purchase or give it away and buy something else.
Call a furniture show room and they can direct you to what product to use and how
most hobby and craft stores do sell leather dye for arts and crafts. Obviously for a couch you'll need a fair bit of it but it will still work.
