They can be epoxy coated, but this has to be done by professionals
It can be painted with any permanant paint, as long as it recieves a top coat before it starts peeling. You can also coat it with epoxy, but unless you know how to do it, or have a family member who can, get it done professionally.
Lightly scuff the surface to reduce the shiny finish, you can prime the surface with glass paint primer and use the paint specifically for glass, find it in a craft supply store or the craft section at walmart, possibly. Follow with a top coat, also available with the glass paints, to make sure you can wash the tile without removing all your hard work.
