Well i start school this fall and i was wondering what i would need for my drom! ANY suggestions!?
Question:I am a girl!
Answers:
rice cooker, toaster oven, a small refrigerator, shower sandals and robe.
a shower caddy and a place to tote your makeup and stuff with you to the bathroom ( i used a fishermans tackle box, all the little compartments were awesome for keeping my stuff organised. you will need a pop up laundry hamper or bag, over the door coat rack and if you have alot of accesories i would suggest one of those hangup shoe racks for your little stuff.
You will need a computer (laptop), some bedding, towels, clothes, prophylactics, and a dorm fridge for your beverages, if one is not provided by the school. I would also recommend bringing paper, pens, pencils and a notebook. Don't forget to buy a backpack, too.
a hot pot
flip flops for the shower
I would invest in a microwave and a great air freshener. If you have things you don't want anyone else to be able to access, you can get a small safe you can put under your bed, but be prepared to spend some good money on that. Good luck with school and have fun!

Travel light! You will most likely be changing rooms after a month of so once you make new friends so keep that in mind! Bring an Iron but no Ironing board. You can just use a towel folded in half. I made the mistake of hauling a mini ironing board that I never used.
A mini fridge if they allow, you will always want to have some home food that you can have on hand in the fridge.
Make sure that you have a laundry basket that is VERY sturdy or better yet on wheels. Because if your like most student you will wait untill its packed full before you so laundry and it gets REALLY heavy carrying to the laundry mat.
Most schools dont allow a hot plate or mini boiler but I snuck one in anyways. The are like $9 at target or wal-mart and it it a great way to heat up soups and dinners when you dont want to eat in the calf.
Bring a lot of hooks to attach to walls and clostets and behind doors. 3M makes some that use double stick foam tape. Look in the home inprovement isle of any store. They are cheap and dont make holes in the wall that you will get charged for.
Last but not least: when you are in a room that you dont mind staying in, get some cinder blocks and planks of MDF board and use to build a shelf on top of your desk. Trust me, You will want ANY space you can get.
Dont forget a cheap expandable curtain rod with cheap curtains becasue when your out all night you will want a dark room when you sleep in!
good luck- Learn as much as you can!
Some things come with the dorm room, some items are no brainers. TV, radio/cd player etc., you will not forget. But, be sure and bring some things that will make you feel at home, and keep you connected to your friends and family. Some photo's, is there a stuffed animal or doll you love? A special pillow or blanket. Pack items that help you relax and to calm you when you come back after a difficult day. You don't need to bring a lot, you will find that you will decorate as you go and find things to make the space uniquely you.
