try removing the panelling you could have perfect walls underneath
nope.why wood is almost a living breathing thing...expands and contracts with heat cold humidty and such, your going to end up with cracks in the seams
No. The joint compound will not permanently bond to the wood. It will crack and fall out.Try a vinyl spackling product instead. No need to prime first. Prime after to seal.
use wood putty or vinyl spackle. Read the label on the spackle, it will tell you if it works with wood. I have used both products on paneling before and it works fine. No cracking or flaking after almost 5 years. It's a lot of work, tho, b/c you will have to sand the surface smooth after it dries, and clean and prime again over all surfaces you fill. I assume you will be painting the paneling. Have you considered textured paint? It is a very thick paint that comes in various types: One type has sand mixed in, so your walls will feel and look like stone or cement after painting. Another is very thick-you trowel it on and use it like a stucco. Check out your home improvement stores for options.
