What color paint should I use?
Question:Just moved into a condo. I want to change the look of the living room and bedrooms. It has dark brown carpet throughout and white walls. What color paints should I use to brighten this place up a bit?
Answers:
With dark brown I'd say try using a light shade of yellow. It shouldn't be too bright.
Painting the walls in Ivory would also look nice.
These colours would give the room brightness and elegance respectively.
Don't go for Red - it's too loud a colour. It'll stand out dominating everything else in the room.
Green's etc are not classy enough - trust me.
use s***t green with brown trim
a bright blue will look really nice with the brown! good luck!
IK watch far too much HGTV and dark brown is really in right now with turqoises and blues. I have a room with mocha walls and a comforter with browns, tans, blues, and brown throw pillows.
Hmmmm with brown. lots of fun choices. if you are feeling bold. orange, rust, more mellow would be peach, tan, oatmeal, gold, light sage green, yellow (earth tones go well with brown). Have fun mix colors... make a square stencil and make 'blocks' of different colors on one wall. For ideas, find a wall hanging, floral arrangement or throw pillow you like and use the colors from that.
a red..but not to dark
Robins egg blue is being used with chocolate browns, use beige and a touch of red.
Or you could go with a paprika or terracotta for an accent wall, that's pretty intense but one wall should do the trick, or you could think of using an oriental carpet over the dark brown carpeting to break it up.
Don't overlook using more lights, torchiers and lamps and making sure your bulbs are a good wattage.
a mossy colored green or a light peachish-tan color. hope it helps.
That all depends on if you own it or not. If your renting the landlord usually will need to give permission.
And of course what colors you have already for furniture and accessories.
Personally, I like a muted mustard color on one wall. That with adding some green plants in the home.
I suggest a light or dark blue. If you can, change to wood floors, they go with most all colors; otherwise a lighter carpet will also lighten up the room.
Oooh lime green would be nice - it sounds weird but I've seen it and LOVE it.
orange, mauve, peach.
bright or light/already have the dark with the floor.
Paint the walls cream. It will keep the rooms large in look.Use a patterned curtaining and match material for scatter cushions in living-room.Remember if you use dark colours on walls you will lose light and room will look smaller. But bright duvets or bedspreads will look nice with bright curtains. Try the Martha Stewart website for ideas. Good Luck!
a green or maybe even a red
