This is only a very temporary solution, I did it and put 8 coats of varnish on top to protect it and it still didn't last long, things like sliding a can on it can damage it, water sitting on it can damage it, it gets chipped easily, stained easily, I don't recommend it. My husband is a professional painter and he doesn't recommend it for a long term solution either. Hope this helped, I know I regret ever doing mine.

There are company's that refinish, counter tops, bath tubs, stoves, and iceboxes. Look in the Yellow pages. They use special filler for cuts, chips and scratches. Most of them use Acrylic Enamel paint. or Epoxy..
Melamine paint will cover it very well. Lightly and gently sand the counters with 800 - 1000 grit sandpaper. Wash the counters with a cleaner such as TSP. Paint the counters. Be certain to use a foam roller specially designed for melamine paint. After the paint has dried and cured for about two weeks you can apply a clear sealer. You will not be able to cut on your counters but they will be significantly better looking.
