Can tempered glass be sanded down ?

Question:I have a bathroom door that doesn't fit the opening I know you can't cut the glass.

Answers:
No. New piece. even if you take off a 1/16, you have compromised the glass considerably. eventually, it will break.

tempered glass- quickly cooled at either surface to create a ton of surface stress. chips, cracks, etc on the edge allow the stress to relieve aka blow up aka shatter.

I've tried that. It blew up in my hands.

You can sand down an 1/16" inch on Tempered glass before it shatters. You might get lucky and get 1/8" but thats pushing it.
I would expect it to shatter. The glass is designed to shatter for safety with even slight scratches.
How much does it Not fit?
Can you not widen the opening?
Sanding would have to be done with a belt sander and I don`t think you can keep the glass Cool enough Not to shatter.
